Tile laying is one of the most important links in decoration. It's not easy to choose a good one among many brands and designs. However, due to the lack of knowledge about tile and the inability to supervise the operation process of the tiling master, the final result is that the tiling effect is not ideal, which also brings a lot of inconvenience to life in the future.
The most important effect of tile laying is neat and flat. The standard for acceptance of tile laying flatness in home decoration industry is: the measurement error of 2m guiding rule is ≤ 3mm.
So if we want to make the tiling more flat, what should we pay attention to?
① Slight arching of tiles before tiling is normal
Due to the high temperature firing in the production process of ceramic tiles, it is normal for ceramic tiles to have weak bow back. In fact, every tile is not absolutely flat, the central part of the arch will not affect the effect of paving. The national error standard of tile flatness is: the deviation of upward arching or downward bending shall not exceed ± 0.2% * the side length of tile. Take 800 * 800mm tile as an example, as long as the upward arching is less than 1.6mm, it belongs to the normal range.
② The proportion of cement mortar is very important
In traditional paving, cement and sand are usually mixed in the field as binder, and the proportion of cement and sand is very important. If the proportioning is not right, the proportion of sand is too high or no adhesive is added to the mortar, the cement mortar will not stick to the ceramic tile and the floor tile will be warped. However, if the cement grade is too high and the mixing ratio is too large, it may also cause the tiles to bulge, fall off or crack.
In home decoration, the floor tile is generally laid dry, and the proportion of cement and sand is 1:3
③ Cement mortar shall be evenly applied
When tiling, in order to save time, the tiles are only applied around the tiles, resulting in only the mortar beside the tiles to paste the wall. The tiles with uneven stress are not only not firmly bonded, but also may have uneven effect in the later stage.
④ Make sure to leave a seam when paving
Almost every ceramic tile has a slight deviation in length, right angle, variable angle, etc. If there is no seam or the seam is too thin, and the height difference of the edge of the ceramic tile is slightly large, it seems that the seam will be uneven. At the same time, seamless tiling is easy to lead to hollowing and arching or cracking of ceramic tiles during thermal expansion and contraction.
⑤ After paving, it must be compacted and flattened
After the tiles are pasted on the ground, as the cement mortar is still in a semi dry state, it is necessary to press the mortar down through a rubber hammer or a vibrator to make the cement mortar evenly distributed under the tiles, so as to avoid uneven stress on the tiles when the cement sets and affect the flatness.
