(1) What extra things do I need to install for long-distance cycling?
If you buy a station wagon, you can just ignore the problem. The station wagon is specially designed for long-distance riding. Everything that should be installed is installed. There's almost no need to add anything else. Considering the unique long-distance riding culture in China, most of them are mountain bikes, which is worth discussing.
Mountain bikes are all naked when they are bought. First of all, you need to buy a leg, even if you don't ride a long distance. I've used all kinds of legs for so many years, but I haven't met anything that I'm satisfied with. This has little influence on long-distance riding, so I won't discuss it in detail here. I don't have any good suggestions for you.
Second, install mudguards. Mudguards, as the name suggests, are used to stop mud. If you don't install mudguards, when you pass wading and muddy roads, the wheels will lift up and the mud will be thrown everywhere. Back, hair, even face. Many riders have a misconception that when they install mudguards on a muddy road, it will cause mud jam and affect the wheel rotation. When I was in Yichang, I met a cyclist for the first time who didn't have a fender. That's what he thinks. It does exist. Before I entered Mojiang County, I walked a section of rotten road for more than ten kilometers, which happened at that time. The mud in the fender locked the wheels. In order to get through the road, I had to push the car into the puddle and use water to lubricate the wheels. But this kind of plugging is rare. I've been riding for three months, only this time. After riding for so many years, I met this one. The fear of mud blocking the wheels is nothing but groundless. Rotten roads are very rare. It takes nearly 5000 kilometers to ride down this road, and the total number of rotten roads is less than 100 kilometers. And it's not easy to get stuck in traffic on muddy roads. I met the rotten road of more than ten kilometers blocked by wheels, and the real road was only about one kilometer. Bad roads are very rare, mud traffic jams are even rarer. But rainy days and wet roads are common. So the fender is a must. At that time, I met the guy who didn't install the fender and added wechat to each other. A few days later, I saw that the bicycle picture he sent in his circle of friends was equipped with the fender. You must buy all inclusive fender for long-distance riding. Half pack and short can't work. If you ride faster, you still sweep all over the body. Moreover, the all inclusive fender can prevent mud from sweeping onto the front transmission, while the half inclusive and short ones can't.
Third, the shelf after loading. Shelves can be divided into three types by style. The first one is to dismantle the shelf quickly. This kind of shelf is characterized in that the head is fixed on the seat tube with quick release screw and the foot is fixed on the frame. This kind of shelf is very convenient to install and dismantle, but its disadvantages are very obvious. It's the least stable of all shelves. So the least recommended is this kind of shelf, who use who regret. The second is the shelf with straight legs and bent legs. This kind of shelf is the most commonly used and the most stable. Although its left side is made into a radian to avoid the brake, it does not affect its firmness and stability. I've been using it for several years, and there's no problem until now. The third shelf is similar to the second one, but the difference lies in the feet. The second kind of shelf foot is flat with a screw hole on it. The foot of the third kind of shelf is the long foot pointing to the wheel, which is about three centimeters long. The reason for the long foot is to bypass the brake on the left side, while the other side is also made into a symmetrical long foot for beauty. This is my first shelf. I don't recommend this kind of shelf. Because the screws that fix the foot of this kind of frame are very long. Once you load heavy goods, the foot is easy to bend, and the screws inside are also bent. It's difficult to remove them when you want to. At that time, I even took off the screw hole by screwing it. As a result, the re loading shelf had to pass through the screw and then screw a nut to fix it. Shelves can be divided into three types according to materials. First, all aluminum alloy or all iron hollow tube shelves. The quality of this kind of shelf is the worst. Once it was used, the pipe cracked quickly. Second, the bearing vertical bar is solid steel, other parts of the hollow pipe. The quality is better, but not much better. Third, all solid steel shelves, the best quality, highly recommended.
Fourth, install reflectors. Even if the front three things are not installed, they should also be equipped with reflectors. Because it's about riding safety. Cycling can't avoid changing lanes to overtake or being overtaken by others. At this time, you need to know the traffic situation in the rear. With mirrors, you don't have to turn your head to look behind. It is not only inconvenient but also dangerous to turn your head and observe the rear when you are riding, especially when you are going downhill quickly. A slight error can cause an accident. So it is very necessary to install the rearview mirror. Only one reflector needs to be installed, because driving on the right side, only on the left side. There are all kinds of bicycle reflectors on the Internet, some on the handlebars, and others on the hands like watches. I suggest buying the one on the handlebar, because the watch type is too small and the field of vision is too narrow.
Fifth, flashing warning lights. It serves as a warning when riding at night and crossing tunnels. It must be installed, both before and after. There are many kinds. You can choose for yourself. If you don't think it's enough, consider putting reflective stickers on your bike.
Sixth, if you ride at night, you need to install a headlight. I don't recommend night riding. unsafe. My principle is to finish the ride before dark. If you can't find a suitable place, find a place where you can make do with it. Be sure to camp as much as you can before dark. Because it's not safe to ride at night, I'm even more afraid of bicycle failure. No one wants to repair a bicycle in the dark, right. Of course, if you are staying, sometimes the place you stay is far away, so it's hard to avoid taking the night road. Then you have to install a headlight. There's not much research on the lights. But there is a mistake to correct“ "German standard" is not the brand name of the lamp, but the lamp that meets the German lighting standard (just like Galway is not the name of the pack brand, but the common name of a pack type). Almost all the lamps bought online are made in China, and only they know whether the products have passed the German certification. In a word, don't believe in morality.
