With the trend of automobile lightweight, more and more plastic parts are used. Developed countries regard the amount of plastic used for automobiles as an important mark to measure the level of automobile design and manufacturing, and the amount of plastic used for automobiles in Germany accounts for 15% of the total materials.

In recent years, China's automobile industry has developed rapidly. At present, the annual output of automobile is more than 4 million. According to the trend of foreign countries, the annual use of modified plastics in automobile industry will be more than 500000 tons, of which engineering plastics account for a large proportion and are applied to various parts of automobile.

What are the engineering plastics used for auto parts?

1, Nylon material (PA)

Nylon is mainly used in automobile engine and its peripheral parts. The main products are gfpa6, gfpa66, reinforced flame retardant PA6, etc.

1. Application in the peripheral parts of the automobile engine: because the peripheral parts of the engine are mainly heating and vibration parts, most of the parts are made of glass fiber reinforced nylon. This is because nylon has better comprehensive properties. The main properties of nylon modified by glass fiber have been greatly improved, such as strength, product precision, dimensional stability, etc. In addition, there are many kinds of nylon, which is easy to recycle, relatively cheap and so on. These factors make nylon become an ideal choice material for engine peripheral parts. Intake manifold is the most typical application of modified nylon in the field of automobile. In 1990, BMW first applied the intake manifold made of glass fiber reinforced nylon to the six cylinder engine. After that, the intake manifold made by Ford glass fiber reinforced PA66 was used in V6 engine, and then the major automobile companies in the world followed up. The modified nylon intake manifold was widely used.

2. Application in automobile engine parts: engine cover, engine decorative cover, cylinder head cover and other parts generally use modified nylon as the preferred material. Compared with the metal material, taking the cylinder head as an example, the weight is reduced by 50% and the cost is reduced by 30%. In addition to the engine parts, other stressed parts of the car can also use reinforced nylon, such as oil filter, wiper, radiator grille, etc.

2, Polyester (PBT)

In the field of automobile manufacturing, PBT is widely used in the production of bumper, carburetor assembly, fender, spoiler, spark plug terminal board, oil supply system parts, instrument panel, automobile igniter, accelerator, clutch pedal and other automobile parts. The competition between PBT and PA, PC and POM is very fierce. PA is easy to absorb water, and PC is less resistant to heat than PBT. In the aspect of automobile connecting pipe, PBT will gradually replace PA due to its better water absorption resistance than PA. In the case of high relative humidity and very humidity, the plasticity is easy to be reduced due to humidity, and the electrical node is easy to cause corrosion, so the modified PBT can often be used. At 80 ℃, 90% relative humidity, PBT can still be used normally, and the effect is very good.

3, POM material

Automobile industry is the biggest potential market of POM materials. POM has the advantages of light weight, high hardness, wear resistance, creep resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, etc. it is very suitable for manufacturing automobile pump, carburetor parts, oil pipe, power valve, ten thousand upper section bearing, motor gear, crank, handle, instrument panel, car window elevator device, electric switch, safety belt buckle, etc. especially the wear-resistant parts such as slide block are the strengths of modified POM The wear of the parts to the metal is small, the consumption of lubricating oil is reduced, and the service life of the parts is enhanced.

4, Polycarbonate (PC)

Because of its excellent heat resistance, impact resistance, rigidity and good processing fluidity, the modified PC is mainly used in exterior and interior trim parts, parts around the instrument panel, antifreeze plate, door handle, negative flow plate, bracket, steering column sheath, decorative plate, air conditioning system parts, light parts and other auto parts.

5, The latest development of automotive plastic parts industry

1. Solvay releases innovative thermosetting semi curing resin system

This kind of cross era material is named Reichhold advalite Gamma Resin blending provides unparalleled performance and advantages in the following markets:

Quick drying capacity in 60 seconds is the ideal material for large-scale production of vehicle structural parts (15 vehicles per year)

The performance reaches the standard level of autoclave high performance system

Unique hardness compared with other quick drying systems

Low viscosity, designed for automated production

Stable storage at room temperature, free of cold storage and temperature controlled transportation

This revolutionary semi curing resin system has high flexibility in production, and can be used for high-speed and efficient production of different auto parts.

"SolvaLite Gamma The fast drying performance of, together with Solvay's innovation in processing methods, enables the production efficiency and cost of structural parts to reach the goal of automobile OEM enterprises. " Said Gerald Perrin, project management director of Solvay's automotive production line. "Reichhold is an important partner in the development of this innovative material, and they helped Solvay create a new way to produce automotive composite structures."

John ilkka, Reichhold's commercial development manager for advanced materials, also said, "Reichhold has a cooperation agreement with Solvay to jointly develop the modulation of solvalite Gamma Advalite of 730 Gamma Innovative resin system. We are excited about the launch of this innovative product, and we believe that it can make a great progress in the automotive industry. "
