I. nylon material (PA)
Nylon is mainly used in automobile engines and engine peripheral parts, the main varieties are GFPA6, GFPA66, enhanced flame retardant PA6 and other products.
1. Application in automobile engine peripheral parts: as the engine peripheral parts are mainly heating and vibration parts, most of the components are made of glass fiber reinforced nylon. This is because nylon has a better comprehensive performance, with glass fiber modified nylon, the main performance has been greatly improved, such as strength, product accuracy, dimensional stability. In addition, there are many kinds of nylon, which are easy to recycle and the price is relatively cheap. These factors make nylon an ideal material for engine peripheral parts. Intake manifold is the most typical application of modified nylon material in the automotive field. In 1990, BMW Germany first applied the intake manifold made of glass fiber reinforced nylon to six-cylinder engine. After that, the intake manifold made by American ford with glass fiber reinforced PA66 was applied in V6 engine, followed by the major automobile companies in the world, and the modified nylon intake manifold was widely used.
2. Application in automobile engine parts: engine cover, engine decorative cover, cylinder head cover and other parts are generally made of modified nylon as the preferred material. Compared with metal materials, taking cylinder head cover as an example, the quality is reduced by 50% and the cost is reduced by 30%. In addition to engine parts, other parts of the car can also use reinforced nylon, such as oil filter, wiper, radiator grille.
Ii. Polyester (PBT)
In the field of automobile manufacturing, PBT is widely used in the production of bumper, carburetor components, fender, spoiler, spark plug terminal board, fuel supply system parts, instrument panel, automobile igniter, accelerator and clutch pedal and other auto parts. The competition between PBT and enhanced PA, PC and POM in automobile manufacturing industry is very fierce. PA is easy to absorb water, and the heat resistance of PC is less than that of PBT. In terms of automobile application takeover, PBT will gradually replace PA due to its superior water absorption resistance. In the case of high relative humidity and very humidity, modified PBT can often be used because the humidity is easy to cause plastic reduction and the electrical joint is easy to cause corrosion. Under 80 ℃, 90% relative humidity, PBT, still can normal use, and the effect is very good.
